How can I grow my lashes naturally?
Have you heard? Falsies are out and natural lashes are in.
But of course everyone is still after the luscious, long lashes look. While the beauty industry is flooded with lash serums and extensions, the key to naturally longer lashes lies in nurturing the hairs from the roots.
We’ll be delving into the five fool proof ways we’ve tried and tested to achieve naturally longer lashes.
A Healthy Diet = Healthy Lashes 🍅
The saying "you are what you eat" couldn't be more true when it comes to promoting lash growth. A well-balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins is fundamental for healthy hair growth, whether this is on your head, eyebrows or lashes.
Try foods high in biotin, such as eggs, nuts, and whole grains, which play a crucial role in strengthening hair and promoting growth. Vitamins A, C, and E are found in fruits and vegetables such as leafy greens or avocados, incorporating these into your diet can contribute to overall hair health and prevent lash breakage over time.
Amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, are essential for lash growth, try lean sources of protein such as fish, chicken, and beans. Omega-3 fatty acids, abundant in fish oil and flaxseeds, can enhance hair strength and fight against breakage and damage.
Hydration is key 💧
Proper hydration is often overlooked in the quest for longer lashes. Water is the literally the elixir of life, playing a vital role in health and beauty from giving your skin a glow, to maintaining the health of your hair. Dehydration can lead to brittle and weak hair that is prone to breakage, both in the case of your lashes and on your head.
Ensure you're drinking lots of water throughout the day (aim for 2 litres) to keep your body, including your lashes, well-hydrated. One of my favourite ways to help me get all my water in is using a cute big cup with a straw (or emotional support water bottle), if I’m more likely to take it around with me all day I’m more likely to get through it quicker!
Gently remove make-up using a cleansing balm 🧼
Removing your make up, especially around your delicate eye area, requires gentle removal techniques. Traditional makeup removers can be harsh on the skin and lashes, causing them to become dry and brittle. There’s nothing worse than scrubbing away at your eyes struggling to remove a particularly stubborn waterproof mascara, only to end up breaking your delicate lashes.
A cleansing balm is specifically designed to dissolve make up whilst being gentle on the skin, an oil works quickly to melt down make up, which should then be followed up with a double cleanse to ensure pores are clear.
A balm is typically a solid formula which then melts into a hydrating oil when warmed between your finders. Most balms contain nourishing oils such as jojoba or grapeseed, which can deeply cleanse and rid the skin of make up, whilst also replenishing moisture into the skin. Choosing a balm with ingredients such as chamomile or aloe vera can help soothe the skin around the eyes and will further promote lash health.
We have our own cleansing balm in the works, so watch this space! In the meantime we love the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, or the Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm.
Discover The Power of Oils with PERL's Nourishing Lash Oil ✨
When it comes to naturally enhancing lash length, oils are your new best friend. We’ve developed our Nourishing Lash Oil, a blend of natural plant and seed oils to provide an incredible formula that has transformed lashes and brows.
The lightweight and non-greasy formula make it easy to incorporate into your nightly routine, as the product aids growth whilst conditioning and hydrating lashes from root to tip.
What’s in our lash oil?
- Castor oil: Known for its nourishing properties, castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which may help promote hair growth. It can moisturize and strengthen the eyelashes, reducing breakage and encouraging them to appear thicker and fuller.
- Argan oil: High in vitamin E and fatty acids, argan oil can nourish and hydrate the eyelashes, making them softer and less prone to damage.
- Pumpkin seed oil: Rich in vitamins and minerals, pumpkin seed oil can provide essential nutrients to the eyelashes, helping to support their health and improve their appearance.
Together, these oils create the perfect environment for longer, healthier lashes.
To use apply a light coating from root to tip before bed, the oil will work throughout the night to fortify your lashes, when used over time this will leave you with visibly longer, stronger and more resilient lashes.
Be Patient: Understanding the Lash Growth Cycle ⏰
Of course we all want a quick fix, beauty solution, but sometimes good things take time. Understanding that lashes (like all hair) go through a natural growth cycle is key, this consists of three phases; the anagen (growth) phase, the catagen (transition) phase, and the telogen (resting) phase.
Your lashes will typically have a growth period of around three months. This means that the results of your lash care routine, including the use of our Nourishing Lash Oil, may take some time to become evident. Patience is key – resist the urge to overuse products or become disheartened if you don't see immediate results. Consistent routines and gentle care will give you the best long term solution for your luscious lash dreams!
Achieving naturally longer lashes is a holistic journey that involves nourishing your body, adopting gentle beauty practices, and incorporating specialised products like PERL's Nourishing Lash Oil. By focusing on a healthy diet, staying hydrated, using a cleansing balm for makeup removal, and embracing the power of oils, you can enhance the beauty of your lashes from the inside out. Remember, the key to success is patience; as your lashes go through their natural growth cycle, the results will become clear, leaving you with lashes that are not only longer but also healthier and more beautiful than ever before.
